  • Pain in the joints: Inflammation and stiffness often accompany pain in the joints. In some patients, joint pain resolves with rest but becomes worse after performing physical activities. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the common conditions affecting the joints. These conditions occur due to the inflammation in the joints as a result of increased weight or immunological dysfunctions. 
  • Muscle pain: Spasms and cramps in the muscles and injuries or accidents may cause pain in the muscles. Some infections and tumors can also cause muscle pain. Muscle pain or stiffness may also occur due to sitting, standing, walking, or sleeping in a wrong posture that creates strain on the muscle tissues. 
  • Ligament and tendon pain: Tendons and ligaments are made of strong bands of connective tissues that connect the joints and the bones. Overuse injuries, strains, and strains can lead to ligament or tendon pain. 

What are the signs and symptoms of musculoskeletal pain?

The symptoms of musculoskeletal pain vary depending on the underlying cause. The common symptoms accompanying musculoskeletal pain include:

  • Stiffness and aching
  • Pain that becomes worse with movements
  • Fatigue and weakness 
  • Twitching of the muscles 
  • Burning sensation in the muscles
  • Sleep disturbances
